As a gentler alternative to drill dentistry, in most cases, Laser Dentistry can perform many traditional dental procedures with no shots, no drill, and virtually no pain. It uses a unique combination of laser energy and water to provide gentler, more precise treatment that conserves healthy tooth, and minimizes pain and discomfort.

The laser has proven to be safe and effective for many surgical procedures, including the removal of tooth decay and cavity preparation; as well as perform many soft tissue (gums/frenums) procedures without the use of a scalpel (blade).

Dr. Castillo uses this laser technology to remove decay in teeth; and to release tongue and lip ties (through a procedure called frenectomy) when it’s necessary to improve speech, lactation, and other oral related issues. Patients that are undergoing orthodontic treatment occasionally are referred to us when they experience gum swelling and overgrowth so Dr. Mani can recontour their gums with the laser. This procedure is called a gingivectomy.

Although, most patients requiring these soft tissue procedures are referred to us by other specialists, Dr. Mani will perform his own assessment before we schedule the surgery. The advantages of the laser either in hard or soft tissues is less pain, faster recovery, minimal swelling and no stitches!
